History
Background
In 2014, Wipunen Varainhallinta, a Finnish, family-owned investment holding company with strong links to KONE & Cargotec, decided to establish an investment management firm in Singapore under the advisory of WIP Asset Management — an outpost that would enable the company to further increase its presence and exposure in the region and take part in Southeast Asia’s booming economic growth.
2015
Wipunen Asia, a family-run investment office, is set up and mandated to develop an investment strategy based on Wipunen Varainhallinta’s philosophy of responsible ownership.
2018
Wipunen Varainhallinta upscales the business by restructuring Wipunen Asia from a successful family-run investment office to an independent asset management company.
2019
Wipunen Asia completes its registration under the Monetary Authority of Singapore and launches its Asia Top Picks Fund using its newly established Access S.A., SICAV-SIF platform in Luxembourg.
2020
Wipunen Asia establishes an office in Vietnam to strengthen its presence in the frontier market
The firm also enters into a new chapter, altering its corporate structure by transforming from a wholly owned subsidiary of Wipunen Varainhallinta, to an independent asset manager with significant management ownership.
2022
To celebrate the 3-year milestone of Asia Top Picks Fund, the company is rebranded as ‘Kenno’.
The new brand reflects the company’s mission to strengthen its values and communicate them to its clients, combining its Finnish heritage with its commitment to responsible investment.
Today
Kenno continues as an independent, regulated asset manager dedicated to its investment philosophy of active ownership.
With the heritage and pedigree of a successful family business and the strength of a diversified, long-term capital base, Kenno is well-positioned to create value for its clients and society at large.
